Comments:We had a wonderful stay at the apartment. The area was excellent, with many restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, unique shops, and very accessible to Metro and Taxis. I will stay in this area again next time in Paris. The only concern I had was that I was not provided with an access code for the main door off the street. Fortunately, a lady that lived there provided the code for us. Other than that minor hiccup, we had a wonderful stay on Rue Montmarte ....

Comments:Just adorable property. Great location (and easy walking distance to RER at Chatelet Les Halles to go to CDG airport) and gorgeous decor. True the bedroom loft has a clearance of I'd say 5foot 4inches and a rail on the wall would make night time descents safer. If you can cope with this then there is no better place in Paris. AND now there ARE curtains that stop the feeling that neighbours might be looking in. thnaks for moving me.. this one is great!

Comments:This is the third time we have stayed in the apartment, and we like it very much -- comfortable, well-equipped, in a lively, central location. We look forward to staying again. Wireless service was excellent, so we didn't much miss the TV. As on our previous visits, however, we could not get it to work well -- either no picture at all, or, when (by chance?) we did get to a channel we wanted to watch, the screen regularly froze after 20 minutes or so. I hasten to add that all this might well have been caused by our technological limitations. We finally just sighed, gave up and used the internet. We think you guys run a tight ship and we appreciate the patient, cordial answers we get whenever we call. And the wine in the apartment, a Menetou -Salon, was really nice.

Comments:We had a great stay in this rental - the only downside we saw was that the sofa was towards the end of it's life. Thankfully we didn't need the sofa bed, but several guest book entrants said it wasn't the best experience. We didn't spend too much time on the sofa with the wonders of Paris right out our door. Overall a great stay! No

Comments:This is a spacious, well-equipped apartment that we thoroughly enjoyed living in for 10 days. There were a few things that intrigued us and added to our positive impressions. The ceiling in the loft is just a little low, so it's possible to bump your head if you forget. We usually didn't, even in the middle of the night. The stepladder to the platform and elevated bookshelves is a wonderful piece of furniture but difficult to negotiate -- we decided to think of it as decorative rather than utilitarian. The art, mainly one big painting, is dark, in shade and content, but nicely balanced by the unusual, bright lighting. The place is greater than the sum of its parts. We really enjoyed the neighborhood, which was the subject of a short story on shops in the area in the Nov. 2 New York Times. One other thing. I thought the folks we talked to in the main office in the U.S. did a fine, cordial, professional job of answering our questions and helping us decide where to stay -- mainly Donna and Jan, I think. Thanks again.

Comments:we couldn't pull the sofa bed out so my mother slept on the couch, which she was fine with. But maybe it needs looking at or an explanation added to the apartment compendium. Also, the light in the toilet stopped working. I emailed the contact person who explained where to find spare bulbs etc, but after looking at the fitting l decided not to touch it. One other minor thing was the lighting in the bathroom is extremely dull, which was frustrating. Overall though, l would highly recommend the apartment to family and friends. The position was excellent and we felt almost like locals after our few days there. It was the perfect base to explore paris.

Comments:The shower leaked onto the floor. The rubber door seal was not fixed to the floor so it kept moving allowing the water to escape. The instructions to use the stove could be improved and there were no instructions on using the oven. We lost power and the instructions to restore it were unclear although we did manage to get the power back. There was no air conditioning, which was not a problem for us, but could be a problem later in the summer.

We were pleased to see that some of our previous feedback had been taken on board although the shower was still leaking and the hot water service was temperamental. Overall we were very happy to be back and we would be happy to stay here again. The location is fabulous and the apartment has everything we need. We couldn't be happier with the service VIP provides - everyone we have dealt with over the years (this was our 4th year) have been extremely helpful and we recommend the company to all our family and friends travelling to Paris. Keep up the great work!

Comments:I would recommend this property with reservations. There are no privacy curtains over the windows. The owners only had sheer coverings. We were not offered privacy anywhere within the apartment (including the bedroom loft) except in the bathroom with the door shut. This was quite unnerving. The apartment faced a courtyard so all of the neighbors could see us and we could see them. In addition, the sun didn't set until 10 pm and woke us early at 5 am with no way to shut the sun out because of the lack of curtains. You should advise guests that are tall to look elsewhere. I am only 5'6" and could not stand in the loft. My husband is 6'3" and his head hit the ceiling of the bathroom. Showering was very uncomfortable for him and he could not even shut the door to the toilet because there was not enough space for his legs with the door closed. This was a huge problem because again there were no privacy curtains on the windows and the neighbors could watch him on the toilet! Also, the lighting in the bathroom was quite dim. It was difficult to put make up on.

Comments:We were disappointed on arrival to find there was no linen for the sofa bed after we had requested it. This problem was resolved by contacting the Paris contact. After this setback we settled in and loved the apartment. We were disappointed by the limited availablity of the phone which we understood had connectivity, landline to landline anywhere in the world. The description of this feature needs to be more specific if it only applies to USA and Europe. Thought the linen-sheets & towels were tired. Could have been professionally laundered. Nothing like crisp sheets and fluffly towels. The apartment is in a fabulous location. It is quiet and cosy. Access was great and we had an enjoyable time. We could highly recommend this for a Paris base. Security was reassuring.

Comments:This was a great place, new and stylish, with a great location. The only drawback I encountered were some building occupants slamming doors to their apartments, which was very loud in my apartment. This was around 7am - 9am, when I liked to sleep in, since I was on vacation. Also, the extra pillows pillowcases could have been cleaner, and not stashed as they were in the dusty cupboard. These were minor drawback, though. Noisy neighbors are often expected in urban apartments. Overall it was a great experience. Thanks for the detailed and complete directions/instructions. It made for a hassle-free visit. I will definitely consider employing your services again.

Comments:I would recommend adding a comfortable chair in the living room. With just the couch it does at times feel like there isn't enough room to spread out and get comfortable. It would be nice to have additional towels as well, especially hand towels and di On our first night the hot water heater stopped working so there was no heat in the apartment. My husband found the manual online and translated it in order to see if he could fix it, and we were able to get it working again by turning a knob underneath

Comments:The only thing I thought would be nice would be some additional seating. The bar stools for the table were very high - appropriate for the table, but not really comfortable for sitting to read a book, for example. The couch was good but a normal chair One of the best things about the apartment was the incredible quiet - there was only one night (a Saturday) when I heard *anything* from the street outside. It was a fantastic place to retreat after a busy morning, drop stuff off and plan the afternoon/

Comments:The loft bed space is built on a steel frame above the bathroom and accessed by a steep steel stairway. In the loft the headroom is less than 5.5 feet. The access is dangerous for anyone over 60 and the lack of head room potentially fatal for anyone over It is a wonderful location. Lots of bars and restaurants and an adequate small supermarket only 50 yards from the front door.

Comments:We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. The location is perfect - easy access to public transport but also easy to walk to all of the major sites (even the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur if you're feeling energetic)- and the apartment is lovely, just as it appears on your website. We found the owner's book with suggestions for local shopping and restaurants very helpful. Our only complaint (which is really very minor) relates to the bathroom - the shower leaks onto the bathroom floor - and from reading the guest book, this has been occurring for some time. On a positive note, having previously stayed in an apartment without a lift, it was a luxury not having to carry our very heavy suitcases up three flights of stairs! We would definitely stay here again. Many thanks to the owner for allowing us to stay and to all the wonderful staff at VIP who are always so helpful. This was the third time we have used your company and we will be back in touch soon to arrange a stay for this year's trip. Again these are minor things but we thought that perhaps they are worth bringing to your attention in case they trouble future guests. The first is that we could not find any instructions for heating. When we arrived in Paris there was a bit of a cold snap and there were a couple of nights when we felt it would have been nice for the apartment to be warmer. We wondered if the heating is controlled by the building managers rather than apartment owners and that was why we couldn't work out how to turn the heating on. If that's the case a note explaining this would be helpful or instructions on how to use the heating wouldn't go astray. The other thing was that on arrival next to the welcoming bottle of wine was an envelope with a note asking for a tip to be left for the cleaner, if we were satisfied with the cleanliness of the apartment. We have stayed in quite a few 'self-catering' apartments in the UK, Italy and France and have never come across this before. As we did not arrange for extra cleaning of the apartment during our stay, it seemed to us we were expected to tip for something that should have been provided as part of the rental fee. Perhaps this is normal and we just haven't experienced it. In any event, it wouldn't stop us from staying there again (but we did find it strange).

Comments:The best thing about this apartment was the neighborhood. The location was perfect for all manners of shopping, dining, and transportation. It also did not feel touristy, which I really liked. That being said, I felt that the property was overpriced for what it offered. The kitchen area was more than adequate, but it felt hastily done. The range hood vented into the loft area, and the refrigerator felt like it was going to fall out of the cabinet every time it was opened. The loft design was not ideal, with the bathroom under the sleeping area. I am 5'7", and my hands hit the ceiling of the bathroom when I was drying my hair. Also, the shower pan was not properly sloped, so water leaked out every time my husband or I took a shower. We made sure every time that the rubber seal on the bottom of the door was inside the stall, but water seeped out at the hinge point where there was no seal. Additionally, while it looked striking, the metal stairs leading up to the sleeping loft were a bit scary. I was paranoid that with no railing, I was going to trip down them in anything but bare feet. We do not have children, so it was not an issue for us, but there is no way anyone with small children could safety stay in this property. I am sorry to not leave a more glowing review. I really enjoyed the beautiful one bedroom near Les Invalides, where I stayed on my first visit in 2010. The next time I am in town, I will make sure to book early enough to reserve this property, as it was truly lovely.

Comments:As I've already mentioned to VIP, there were too many things in this apartment that needed repair. The kitchen cupboard doors did not work, one of the electrical outlets in the bathroom worked only sporadically. The elements on the stove were "tricky" a word used by the owner. The floor that extends beyond the foot of the bed is only one foot from the stairwell with no banister, a very dangerous feature when you get up in the middle of the night. Etc... We had the impression that the apt was not well maintained by the owner. She left an extended list of things that the tenant should and should not do, but there was not the same consideration from her side of the transaction. We did like the area/location though. Comments:We had a wonderful stay at the apartment. The location was perfect. This was our first trip to Paris and we felt as though we were a part of the neighborhood. The cafes and shops one street over were superb. The short walk to Les Halles Metro was perfect for our entry and departure from Paris. We walked everywhere!! My only reason for giving the beds a "5" and indicating "yes" for "too much noise inside the building" was due to the sofa bed. The sofa bed is very creaky. One can't move a toe without causing loud creaks. My friends in the loft bed mentioned it the next morning. Other than that, the apartment is perfect and I would love to come back and would definitely recommend it to a friend. I think the apartment is perfect for a couple. Thank you! Great place; fabulous bathroom; adorable courtyard entry; safe; location is perfect.

Comments:Location of the apartment was great and your service in taking the reservation, getting us the keys and giving us the needed information was superb. The apartment itself was a little beat up and the arrangement of the bed on a metal platform over the bathroom seemed sort of makeshift. The stairs up to the bed also didn't seem all that safe. Comments:The apartment is roomy for Paris standard and fairly well lighted. Washer and dryer work well. Kitchen is reasonably equipped although the plastic forks and knifes are starting to come apart. We received 2 bath towels and 2 small hand towels. For the price, I believe that you could be more generous. We had trouble getting the Wifi at the beginning and had to call Mrs. de Cidrac until we find the code in a plastic folder. Comments:Bathroom (sink. shower room) is dark, despite the addition of a clamp light in the laundry area. The instructions from the owner, on site, should be more complete. A couple of items it would help renters to know: how to access messages on the phone; location of the timer light in the courtyard--we didn't see it until the second night and stumbled through the courtyard in pitch dark the first night. We noticed that several people commented in the guest book that they had trouble figuring out how to use the stove; their comments were a factor in our decision not to cook. Who needs more stress when on vacation. This is a fine place for many reasons, location being the main one. We would use your service again but would choose a different apartment.

Comments:My husband and I loved staying at this apartment, and it gave us a sense of truly being part of a Parisian neighborhood. The location couldn't have been better, with the wonderful market street and the many excellent stores nearby. The kitchen was well-equipped, and there even were a few staples in the pantry. The wi-fi worked perfectly but not too fast. There was plenty of closet and shelf space, and the apartment was very spacious, especially for a city. There were good tourist books and other information in the apartment. The VIP staff was professional and helped with the few questions that weren't answered by the web site, and being able to have the key before arrival was especially helpful. It was such a hoot to feel the key to "our Paris apartment" in my purse for the first few weeks of out trip. A few observations and suggestions: The ceiling over the bed loft is 6 feet or less, so a very tall person may be uncomfortable. There is a sofa in the living room but no place else to sit other than some cushions; another chair or two would be useful. There were instructions for most of the appliances, but not for all of them. The apartment was wonderful for the two of us and would be fine for a family, but there was not enough privacy between the sofa-bed in the living room and the sleeping loft for two couples. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. This was our first time to have an apartment in Paris, but it much definitely will not be the last. I can't emphasize how nice it was to have the key prior to our departure. That made our arrival in Paris so much easier. Thank you for having that policy.

Comments:The apartment was functional but an additional chair would be nice. Three adults with only a couch is inadequate. As a couple traveling with an 87 year old friend we were surprised at the lack of privacy. This should be mentioned in the apartment listing. The kitchen appliances were tough to figure out; we never did understand the microwave. Better instructions would be helpful. We loved the location. Having the market street right around the corner was wonderful. We would recommend the apartment with the stipulation that there is no privacy for non-related adults...better suited for a couple with a younger child.

Comments:We loved the location as we have stayed on the left bank on previous visits. We were within walking distance to all attractions and the metro when needed. We chose the apartment based on the location near to food market and we used this market often. As with other guests, we found the oven impossible to master save for the hot plates. We followed the written instructions to no avail. The door to the apartment also required some patience but this was mastered in the end. I was pleased to read other reviews which indicated that the door was problematic as had this not been the case, we may have panicked upon arrival. We have used Vacation in Paris on a previous occasion and were impressed with the service, the quick response to my emails and the detailed instructions. Both apartments we have stayed in have been exactly as described which is perhaps the biggest plus and the reason I did not look to another service provider when we last visited Paris.

Comments:Found the floor really noisy to walk on. The bathroom was VERY dark and it made it hard to see for makeup. Curtains at night likely didn't stop neighbours from seeing in, no where to undress away from the window except in the bathroom. Sofa bed was REALLY

Comments:WE had a wonderful time in Paris and would certainly use your company again. Overall the apartment was good, excellent location, tastefully decorated and clean, however upon arrival we were greeted with an envelope suggesting we tip the cleaners if we were happy with the work they had done - I thought we paid for this service in our rental fee. There were 3 of us, myself, my husband and my daughter but we were given 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels for the entire week. There was a note in the bathroom not to touch the linens in the closet as they were for future guests. The lighting in the room was not good and when showering the water ran out onto the floor due to the poor design of the shower stall. This room had the only mirror in the apartment but there was no electrical outlet and the lighting was not good which make hair drying and make-up application a bit of a challenge! The kitchen had one butter knife which broke, no toaster and no instructions on how to work the stove top. Our bed was O.K. but the pull-out couch for our daughter was horrible. She ended up sleeping on cushions. I wouldn't recommend this apartment to people with young children because there would be a safety issue with the loft. Dish soap and toilet paper are relatively inexpensive. I do think there should be a bottle of soap and 4 rolls left to cover a week's stay. If I had stayed longer I totally understand replenishing this out of my own pocket. Once again we had a wonderful time, the apartment was acceptable and the location was outstanding. We didn't contact the apartment manager as the issues we had were pretty minor or they were things that couldn't be addressed during our stay. We found the rental process and all dealings with your office in the States a breeze. Thank you so much. We will definitely use your services in the future and we will recommend you to friends.

Comments:The apartment was good. We enjoyed our stay, I LOVED the location and the look of the apartment was good. The rail instructions from CDG to the apartment were excellent, and I thank you for that! Very convenient. I was surprise how little outside noise there was. Inside, there was noise, but nothing worth complaining about. Wireless Internet was easy to access, as were phone calls home. I would recommend an alarm clock. We never do laundry on vacation, but when I heard of the washer/dryer availability we decided to pack light and do laundry on our final day. The washer/dryer was frustrating to use, and there were restrictions on when to use it, so it wasn't ideal. It's not something that would stop me from renting, however I would suggest not publishing the fact that laundry facilities exist. I think the apartment is suitable for three and not necessarily four people. The sofa bed is very small for two people. We did pay for a third and fourth person in the apartment, however there was only enough towels and pillows for three. Hopefully this can be kept in mind for future guests. When I return to Paris, I will without hesitation use Vacation in Paris. I have been telling all of my friends and family how EASY it is and I actually wish you had apartments in other parts of Europe for future travel! My husband was very skeptical about using a vacation rental service. When we arrived at the building there was a family waiting outside with their luggage. They had spent the morning waiting for someone to meet them with keys. They indicated they used another vacation rental company. I told them about Vacations in Paris and explained our keys were mailed to us. I immediately had my husband convinced we had made the right decision! :) Thank you for making my trip a huge success for me and my family.

Comments:Dealing withe keys was a big hassle because we are continuing our travels and mailing them insured from Paris cost 58 euros which adds alot to the cost of the vacation. Getting down from the loft bed to the bathroom was treacherous. Other apartment dwellers talked very loud after 1am. It was nice to have the space of the apartment and the neighborhood was awesome. I would like to hear when you receive the keys.

Comments:We were very conscious to be as quiet as possible. Obviously, this wasn't true for some of the tenants. We took the smoking (we're sensitive to smoke and it was reason to shut our windows) in the courtyard and talking as just part of living in an apt building It would have been nice to have more towels than one large and one small per person. Two small bars of soap vs one also would have been better for shower and sink use. Fortunately, I carried one in my bag. We appreciated the apt book of facts and places. Other than not having a couple easy chairs, the apartment was very well appointed. Even one easy chair would make the place more comfortable.

Comments:The position was fantastic and the response from the owner was very prompt when we had problems with the shower not draining. I thought that there should be a hand rail going up to the bedroom. It was a bit disconcerting at night to clamber to the toilet. The pillows were a little strange but that was maybe just me! I did think that the towels were in need of replacing with larger and thicker ones. All in all a great place to stay and I would recommend it to family and friends.

Comments:The only thing I would say about the apartment is the relative lack of privacy. This was not an issue for us, as we are all pretty comfortable with each other, but there aren't a lot of places where you can go to change clothes, and the fact that the bathroom is open onto the stairs is a little strange. However, overall I loved the design of the place, thought the shower was particularly great, and would happily stay there again.

Comments:This was a beautiful apartment in an amazing area - we walked everywhere, and there were great restaurants & little bars just across the street. Just a little aside, the glasses in the cupboard were dirty and there was a casserole left in the oven, but otherwise everything was spotless - again, fantastic neighbourhood. Thank you

Comments:The apartment is in a great location. The fact that it is near the Les Halles Metro station (biggest station in Paris) is good, and bad. Some of the train lines run directly beneath the building, so at night you can actually feel the vibration and hear th You have a top notch company! I have used you twice, with outstanding results. I will NEVER stay in a hotel in Paris again!! You truly provide a "home away from home" in the city of light! I am already planning my return trip!

Comments:I will recommend the apartment to my friend. The apartment is clean with fresh linens and towels. The location is convenient. But this apartment only for 2 persons or the family of 4 with small children, because it was no privacy. The restroom under bedroom with the open spaces and the window=hole to another room.

Comments:The Apt was very large and comfortable and of course in a great location. The Apt is very close to all transporation, shopping, grocery stores and everything that you would need for the type of travel involved in Apt rentals. We have stayed in this area several times now and this was by far one of the better Apts to stay in. Also the elevator was a very nice addition since many places do not have elevators for travelors use. After the long flight this was an added pleasure, As always Vacation In Paris offers the best rentals and rental rates of any company we have ever used. We have used your service now at least 6 times, Great staff and Great service.

Comments:Dear Richard, You may feel that by my rating that we didn't have a great experience, but we did. The fact that I said that I would not use the apartment again, I would prefer to try another one. The lighting in the apartment was extremely dull, making it difficult to see the display on the stove read etc. As the apartments across the courtyard were so close you could not open the blinds, which would not have been an issue if the lighting was better. Also the head room where the bed was, was extremely low. If you were a tall person you would definitely have difficulty. Also the lighting in the bathroom was terrible. the TV did not seem to have any English chanels and there was no facility for Music. We had no contact with any apartment manager, which was not really an issue, but it would be nice just to have someone who you could contact for information or help you might want. The size of the apartment was great and the location was wonderful, so you tend to let pass any problems with the apartment. Although if the apartment was better it would have made it a fantastic experience. Just one comment that a concierge service would be good. I was tossing up between you and Paris Perfect. They have wonderful apartments and greeters and a concierge, for those of us who have traveled to Paris for the first time it would be helpful. Anyway our experience was still wonderful. Would love to come back to Paris in the future. It is such a big city and even 5 days is just not enough. I do apologize that I did not fill this is earlier, but we didn't get back till late November and then Christmas, so it was missed. Anyway thank you for the stay. Kind Regards Pam

Comments:Took a while to figure out the IKEA appliances, particularly the micro/oven combo, but eventually we mastered everything and had most meals in the apartment, which was great. Apartment was great location and wonderfully furnished. I did trip going down stairs at end of trip and it turns out broke my ankle, but that was my own fault for not using the elevator available for the building - the stairs are a bit tricky....Nevertheless, we intend to rent this apt. again when we return to Paris as it was perfect for our needs in every way.

Comments:We loved the location and how easy it was to follow your excellent directions. We were, however, disappointed to find:no extra toilet paper, no dishwasher soap, no dish soap, 3 of 5 light bulbs above the sofa burned out (and no replacement bulbs). We've stayed in a lot of privately-owned rentals (and have one of our own), and expected to have these convenience items provided. A little coffee and laundry detergent would be nice, too. The owners' book was very informative. Overall we were extremely pleased with our experience and will definitely use VIP again. Thanks for the wine! We have already recommended VIP to friends and look forward to our next trip. Thanks for the great information and organization.

Comments:About the only negative, which I already told someone, was that the cleaning staff did not leave the information about everything in plain sight, but buried, so as a result we did not know how to use the phone or internet for two days. The area was perfect. 6 blocks from the Louvre and four blocks from the metro. Lots of bistros and shopping. Easy access to everything we needed. You need one of these called Vacations in Rome, and one called Vacations in Athens! Very friendly staff and pretty much able to answer all questions put to them. Thank you very much. Comments:*Communication with VIP staff was fairly perfunctory and they did not make any effort to do more than just briefly answer specific questions (i.e. no info about the area, things you might want to do, don't forget this, etc.) I was actually told to get a guidebook - which I already had - we were looking for ideas from people who actually had intimate familiarity with that area. *Montorgueil is a bustling trendy dining and entertainment district - we were fine with that, but for families with young children, it seems like it might be too busy and off-putting. *One loud night of revelers (we think in the building,) but otherwise fine. *Owners book of suggestions in the apartment was excellent and we made use of their directions and suggestions and thoroughly appreciated having it. (FYI - One of the recommended restaurants, La Cocarde, is no longer there.) *Apartment was very clean, nicely furnished, and made us feel comfortable. Might recommend a brief instructional piece on European appliances (washer/dryer, stove/oven) - they are very different from US appliances, and I could see silly Americans breaking them just trying to figure out how to use them (we didn't use them, because we couldn't figure them out!) *Very nice to have additional linens and towels available (3 girls require more than one towel per person, so it was really nice to have the extras - thanks!) *A description of how to unlock the door would have been very much appreciated - we spent a long time out in a dimly lit hallway after a long day of travel trying to figure out the right way to get in. (e.g. Top lock turn the key clockwise until it stops; bottom lock turn it counterclockwise until it stops; with the bottom key in the lock, pull the door toward you slightly and the door should open.) *The VIP online apartment instructions were nice to have, but considering there is no one to meet with at the apartment on arrival, I think they need to be more detailed and instructional. We enjoyed our visit! Thanks!
