Comments:Great apartment, great location. We have stayed there several years (4?) in a row, and are planning to stay there next year once we secure our flight reservations. Overall we are very happy to be able to stay in the apartment. The following comments are minor points which reflect our many years of staying at this apartment. My wish list for the apartment, in order of importance, are: 1. A quieter, more powerful fan. The tall and slender squirrel cage fan that has been in the apartment for several years is certainly better than none, but a more conventional tall (pedestal) fan would likely be quieter and move more air. On warm days the apartment can get rather warm, and having another (and better) fan would markedly improve the comfort of the apartment. Of all of my comments this one is by far the most important. 2. It would be nice, if possible, to have another drawer in the 6 drawer dresser made available for tenant use. This year only one of the six drawers were empty and available for guest use. Previously more drawers were left available. We can make due with the armoire, but more storage is always a nice plus. 3. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom is in need of attention to mend a loose bracket. The light on the sink side of the cooktop hood is out. This has been a problem in past years as well. Changing the bulb in the hood seemed a bit trickier than in the other recessed fixtures. I didn't want to risk breaking something by trying to change it myself. Having that light mended would help illuminate the sink area, which is a bit on the dim side without it.

Comments:The property was truly fantastic. We didn't mind the climb - it's Europe. I would like to make a few suggestions that would make it even better based on other places we've stayed. A book listing recommended or nearby grocers, restaurants, etc. would have helped. Also what to do with trash and recycling. A few more consumables would have been nice: toilet paper, bar of soap in the shower, a few spices in the kitchen. The toilet has a slight leak (the owner might care about the extra water use). The paint has just begun to peel above the shower. Great property, and great service - especially the reservation staff here in the US. Thanks for making our trip so delightfully memorabe.

Comments:Truly a lovely apartment. Great location and everything you could need inside. It suited our family of four very well. We felt safe - and the whole process (with keys being sent and instructions) was very well done. We have already recommended the apartment to others as well as Vacation in Paris. Thank you for all your emails and information. We have been to Paris before but this time was just so much more enjoyable. The location of the apartment must be mentioned. We walked everywhere - great way to see Paris. one tiny thing - the knives to cut bread were extremely blunt. - everything else was fine.

Comments:We really enjoyed it. It was ideal for the four of us. There was one thing - there was a long list of things NOT to do, with caps used and threats of being charged. We are paying guests and we did feel as if the approach could have been a bit friendlier. Also we were cold (we stayed in Feb) and I think saying - there are spare blankets you can use would have been helpful. These are minor things, though. We really enjoyed our stay and have already recommended it to a friend.

Comments:Very good location and the apartment is very comfortable. You basically can get anything down the street. Metro is just around the corner. We love the apartment. Only thing is the 92 steps up to the apartment everyday and with luggage is a little challenge. When we arrived we found dirty cups in the drawer which was not been clean. May be the clothes airer can be upgrade to a better one, seems to be a little worn out.Everything else was good.

Comments:The Rue du Bac apartment was in an excellent location - close to major sites and attractions and shopping, but very quiet. The apartment was very comfortable and well-appointed. My brother (who was also on this trip) had stayed in this property earlier this year, so we were aware of the walk-up to the 5th floor. It was great justification for the copious amounts of cheese, bread and wine consumed! The #69 bus is a great way to see major attractions across the city and conveniently stops in front of the apartment.

Comments:In general, this is a great apartment for rental. Yes, the stairs are a bit daunting but the overall location, privacy and comfort make it worthwhile. The space is a little small, and the table not so comfortable for eating (the floor is a bit slanted in that area). The bathroom is really wonderful, and while we didn't mind having the WC separate, it really is kind of narrow and we missed having a bidet. The apartment was very clean overall, but there were a few very minor streaks, spots, etc on the walls and woodwork that could be taken care of. The kitchen furnishings are pretty sparse. For example, there was not a small pan for making omelettes, which would have come in handy. The knife collection is a bit shoddy, too; we couldn't find a small paring knife. Also, it's nice when vacation apartments have a guest book where folks can leave suggestions on things to do, good restaurants, etc. Overall, this was a great apartment. I'm only making these comments because we've rented many properties, in different city and island locations over the years, and these are some things which differentiate great properties from good ones. Working with Vacation In Paris has been wonderful. Great service, we loved the whole key exchange arrangement, because it's great to not have to spend precious vacation time trying to connect with on-site property managers on either end of the stay. We will definitely recommend you to friends. Thanks so much for everything!

Comments:It would be helpful if the burnt out light bulbs were replaced. I replaced one myself from the stock of bulbs in the drawer under the TV, but couldn't quite figure out the one in the hood vent. As I recall this was an issue last time we stayed here as well. Also, a soap dish or small rack for soap and shampoos in the shower would be a plus, to avoid having to store items on the shower floor. This dishwasher did not seem to clean dishes well. In our previous stay this didn't seem to be a problem. Did we buy the wrong soap, or is something amiss with the machine? Finally, when streaming video content on the internet it would hang up (slow). However, even with these minor improvement opportunities, we very much enjoyed staying in the apartment. It is in a great location, and is quite comfortable and quiet. Of the four different apartments that we have stayed in in Paris, this one suits our needs the best. We have already booked for 2014.

Comments:Excellent apartment with good value for our four-member family. The location is good for most of the left bank although near the edge of 'touristed' area so that cafes, bakeries, etc become scarce. Small grocery store at corner, ATM, busstop (69), taxistand and metro all right there. Easy walk to Orsay, Louvre, Seine. We had no difficulty with this but should be aware that there are 90 steps up from groundlevel. We would happily stay here again.

Comments:It is a beautiful, stylish, and comfortable apartment. it was very nicely equipped including spare light bulbs. We would most likely stay again. There are some elements that people should be aware of. This would not be a good apartment for large people. Wall to sink clearances in the bathroom and toilet area were probably 20" or less. Tiny, but one does expect small areas in Europe. The kitchen vent fan has nearly invisible glass corners at forehead height. We draped the brightly colored kitchen towels over them to remind us of their presence. We did note from reviews that there were 5 flights of stairs to the apartment, but it should be noted in the description. The stairway was tight, so dicey if you had large or heavy luggage.

Comments:Useful tips for this property: 1. It is five full flights up with no elevator. It is a challenge with luggage, so make sure you are healthy. 2. Older gentleman on third floor does not like any noise once it gets dark. The location of this property is absolutely wonderful if you prefer a quieter, affluent neighborhood. I will definitely stay here again but with lighter luggage :)

Comments:We loved everything about the apartment - the location to the metro, the quietness of the building especially at night after an exhausting day of sightseeing, the amenities, and comfortable bed/pillows. It was very clean and true to the website description and photographs. The welcoming bottle of wine was a nice touch. The information packaged we received prior to our arrival was very thorough and well organized and resulted in a seamless check-in. The apartment had a manual which explained the TV, appliances, internet access, emergency contact information etc which is a good idea. We knew about the lack of an elevator prior to our arrival but the 6 flight of stairs were a bit of an issue with our heavy suitcases. For this reason the apartment would not be suitable for the elderly or anyone with a physical challenge of any kind. The stairs are also narrow and can be slippery depending on the shoes one is wearing. My only complaint would be that it would be nice to make sure that there is at least one extra roll of toilet paper, dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent. You don't want to have to go out and buy these items for the one week you are there and the cost of supplying these is minimal to the owner. An extra hand and bath towel would also have been appreciated. If all your properties are as accurately represented and well managed as this one - we wouldn't hesitate to use Vacation in Paris again or recommend it to our friends.

Comments:AAA+ We stayed in Rue Du Bac on our honeymoon in Paris, we are from the Gold Coast, Australia. The apartment was perfect for our needs, the position was fantastic. We walked to everything (except Mont Marte, haha) We walked to the Eiffel Tower, Louvre,Rodin, Infant Jesus etc etc. There is a convenience/grocery store 50m away on the corner and another large one just one block away. We only ate out one night in seven as we could buy and cook everything we needed in our own little 'home'. Its so cheap this way. Thanks again that the property lived up to its expectations. Brad. Comments:We found the location was great the flat was lovely. We had no real issues others might with the stairs, the cooker hood is not designed for tall people but bang your head once and you develop an aversion to doing it again!! The area is fab, the metro is seconds away, We can recommend the Cafe Flores on the corner tell Faisa that Hamish from Scotland says Hi. It is a foodie heaven, on the block there is a great butcher who does rotisserie roast chicken and roast potatoes and Gravy mmmmm, a fab fishmonger, an italian deli, theres a nice wee corner shop selling household essentials and a chocolatier that does cones of chocolate mousse. I you walk down Rue de Bac towards the Seine on the left theres a great bakers and a little further down theres a Monoprix (supermarket). There are loads of great wee boutiques on the Rue de Bac and walking away from the Seine you'll find jewellers clothes shops, the Bon Marche department store the Conran shop etc etc. Theres lots to see nearby we can recommend the Rodin museum and the cafe in the gardens there. A little further on les Invalides and Napoleons tomb are worth a look, the Louvres and nearby Place Vendome are all an easy walk. Definite do's get a museum pass and dodge the ques, its worth the money just for that!! use the shops on the street and make packed lunches it will save you a fortune! The areas safe there are lots of Government buildings nearby, so lots of cops, 2 streets up there is always one standing on the corner as the French prime ministers office is just along the street. No

Comments:This was a terrific apartment. The beds seemed new and very comfortable. The whole apartment was spotless, the appliances were updated and the location was perfect. Boutique shops, grocery, specialty food shops, and metro was 1 block away. I couldn't have been more pleased with this apartment! I look forward to staying here again. I previously stayed at your Gourmet Madaleine apartment. I had a good experience the first time with that apartment, but the second time (last summer), not many things worked out, the beds were very old and were sinking more than the previous year. The apartment furniture and bed coverings were very smelly too. You all tried to be very helpful in arranging compensation for us from the owner, but they didn't seem like they were willing to work with us. I'm so glad I gave Vacation in Paris another try because the Rue du Bac apartment was wonderful!

(The one exception was the smell in the kitchen that we couldn't figure out where it was comming from.) We also appreciated the detailed information about the place. The trek up the flight of 6 stairs with our heavy luggage was a challenge but the apartment was definitely worth the walk up. We had a lovely experience in Paris due to the location of the apartment; we were able to shop for groceries and buy rotisserie chicken when we wanted to stay in, go out in the morning for a cup of coffee each morning, have dinner at the corner restaurant, purchase our prescription at the pharmacy across the street and even visit a doctor when we needed medical attention. Thank you for the hospitality and the attention to detail regarding every aspect of our rental. We will definitely return to Paris and use your company to book our stay in the near future.

Comments:We loved the apartment and were very comfortable and happy there and I would stay there again in a moment! The apartment itself was very pleasing and had all the amenities we needed; it was wonderful to be able to relax comfortably -- so hard to do in a hotel. The location is terrific. ... The bathroom sink wasn't draining when we first got there, but a call to the apartment owner got that cleared away -- she told us where to find the Draino-equivalent in the kitchen. The only other thing that detracted from our stay was that the person in the apartment above was heavy-footed and seemed to be a night owl (so, quiet during the day but then a lot of walking over our heads from 10pm-5am!); my husband is a light sleeper, so this was a bit of a bother to him.

Comments:Great location, comfortable apartment, and spotlessly clean. The information on the website was a little misleading. We were two people plus a baby so assumed that the two person rate would be charged as we were bringing our own travel cot. The initial quote we received was the higher rate because it was assumed we would be using both beds. If the price is per bed rather than per person, the website should reflect this. (I should note that once we promised not to use the second bed, our quote was adjusted accordingly.)

The only negative was the fact that the person living above had somebody 'round for dinner one night and we could hear the music, the conversation as well as their walking around well after 10:00 pm. Comments:Our main issue with this apartment was the noise from the apartment above. Starting around midnight each night, it sounded like an elephant was pounding back and forth in the apartment over ours. I realize these are old buildings with wood floors which are noisy, but this was extremely disruptive and LOUD. It lasted at least an hour each night (sometimes with loud music) and one night from midnight until 4am. It was so loud it even woke our 3 year old who is a heavy sleeper. Needless to say, we lost a lot of sleep which we certainly weren't expecting given the description "This is a wonderful and quiet flat". I realize the owner has no control over their neighbors, but we had such restrictions given to us to respect our neighbors that I was hopeful for the same. One other small issue was that the instructions indicated that the owners name was on/near the door of the apartment. It may have been at one point, but is not anymore. We had a little trouble with the old key/lock when we arrived and having the name on the door would have been helpful to assure we were actually trying to open the correct door. You have a fantastic service, and the customer service was great. The only other suggestion I would have would be a rental calendar online for each property. During our planning we were looking at different date ranges, and it was a little frustrating having to send an e-mail each time to check the availability when most sites allow you to check it youself.

Comments:Loved the rental company, the owner, the apartment and the location. We are only mentioning the noise we heard from the upstairs neighbor stomping around through the night twice. We told the owner and he was going to address this with the neighbor so hopefully, he will tread more lightly. The cleaning company had not vacuumed the living room rug or the sofa but otherwise the place was clean. The wine was not there when we arrived because the cleaning crew forgot to put it out, but after notifying the rental agent, they had the owner stop by to leave a bottle which was very nice and they were extremely responsive. A great experience and a great company with which to do business. We loved the apartment but would probably rent another only because going up and down 5 floors with luggage was a little rough for us or else we'd definitely use the apartment again (or bring less luggage!). A great experience. Thank you!

Comments:On cleanliness: Cushions in living room had dirty marks on them. Such things don't need to be cleaned every time of course, but do need to be checked and freshened on occasion. One of the blankets also had a dirty mark and had hair on it. So similar feedback. Rug in living room had not been properly vaccuumed, but that was easier to live with. What surprised us was how small the apartment was. While it was sufficient for us for a few days, anyone of "large stature" would literally have physical difficulties turning around in the WC or passing between the sink and towel rail in the bathroom. Linebackers or considerably overweight people should look elsewhere! Again, not an issue for us, but I could imagine you might get customers who would be caught by surprise.

Comments:This is a beautiful apartment, renovated to a very high standard. What a treat (for us who like to cook) to have a full size refrigerator and an oven! Also working TV cable was a plus. And you cannot beat this location for convenience and charm. My only caveat in recommending the apartment would be the stairs. (We thought this was a plus in terms of our "calorie in, calorie out" equation!!!) This is our second apartment rented from your service, and will not be the last. We especially like having the keys mailed in advance and very clear entry instructions. A bientot!

Comments:Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at #197 in Paris. The arrangements made beforehand including directions to the apartment were excellent. It allowed for us to find the apartment without any problems at all. Both the location and condition of the apartment was outstanding. As well, it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only downside was climbing the winding five flights of stairs to enter and exit the apartment. Being on the fifth floor with the narrow winding stairs and no mention of fire escape also concerned me a little. Keep up the great service Vacation in Paris! A special thank you to Debbie for making the necessary arrangements for us to forward the keys when we returned home from our vacation!

Comments:I gave the beds a 7 as there wasn't enough pillows and the ones we had were flat European ones and not very comfortable. We enjoyed the bottle of wine but we were disappointed that there were only a couple of small old wine glasses to drink from. We had a bottle of wine each night and each night didn't enjoy drinking from the wine glasses. We were also disappointed that we had to buy our own toilet paper. When we arrived there was only half a roll left. We felt this was a bit rude given the amount we paid for the apartment. The five flights of stairs are a killer, especially at the end of a long day so it's not an apartment for those who aren't reasonably fit. The location is great. Right near the metro and heaps of great restaurants in the area. We could walk to a number of the main attractions in under half an hour (Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Invalides, Tour Montparnasse and many more).

Comments:The apartment and location were perfect. Just steps to the Metro. The apartment was very comfortable and perfect for our family. The photographs do make the apartment look a bit larger than it really is, but that didn't matter. Also, as stated, the apartment is on the 5th floor with no elevator, HOWEVER, in Europe, the ground floor is 0, not 1, so by US standards, the apartment is really on the 6th floor! Still worth it and would stay there again. We just really appreciated the ease of working with your company and loved our trip to Paris!

Comments:This was our first experience in Paris, as well as our first experience renting an apartment on vacation. Everything was exceptional! The apartment was beautiful, newly renovated and absolutely spotless, and the location could not have been more convenient. You may consider telling future clients that this 5th floor apartment requires ascending a semi-circular staircase all the way up. As such, it may be a bit challenging if a traveler has large bags of luggage to carry.

Comments:One of the apartment owners downstairs knocked on our door late one night after we were in bed. He was locked out of his apartment and wanted to borrow our "electric". We didn't know what he meant and were uncomfortable about opening the door, so we didn't. He was not very happy with us. I hope that did not cause a problem in the building. But you just don't do that in the US (open the door late at night to a strange man. ) We offered to call someone and suggested he ask another apt owner that would understand, but he was very persistent. Finally went away after awhile. Saw him the next day and he kind of scolded us when we tried to apologize. Just thought you might want to know. Everything else was wonderful.

Comments:I have been to Paris a number of times. This trip, I wanted to live like a local and opt for an local apt in the St Germain area. My husband was a bit sceptical at first about not booking through with a hotel. But from the moment I sent off my queries to receiving the thorough instructions to meeting the owner to collect my key, I cannot express enough how professional and well organised the entire booking was conducted. Well done! This apartment was a brilliant find! Great location to all local delights (market, bakery, boucherie, fromagerie, bon marche etc etc). We walked everywhere. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. Climbing up 5 storeys each morning and night did not bother us but I can see that it will be challenging for less fit. We will definitely stay here again, and thanks to Vacation in Paris staff for making the booking process so seamlessly easy.

Comments:The apartment was in a perfect location for us: metro station close by and we were in walking distance to nearly everything. I did like the courtyard view however that was our only view. There were two of us in the apartment and yet there were only two bath towels - a few more would have been nice. Also, we arrived and there were no paper towels, laundry soap, or toilet paper (the first thing we did was find a store!). But other than that, we had a lovely time. Also, being on the 5th floor with no lift was an adventure! Thank you for providing such a nice place to stay - we really enjoyed the apartment! The directions provided by Vacation in Paris were perfect. We were able to get into the apartment without any issue and we followed the instructions for taking the RER & Metro from CDG to the apartment, again without any problems at all. Thanks again!

Comments:THE MAIN THING WAS THE OVERALL SIZE - VERY SMALL FOR 3 ADULTS & A 12 YEAR OLD ALTHO WE EXPECTED THIS. HOWEVER, THE WAY IT IS LAID OUT, THE BATHROOM & KITCHEN ARE LONG AND SO NARROW YOU CAN LITERALLY HARDLY TURN AROUND IN THEM. IT WAS A BIT HARD TO NAVIGATE. ONE PERSON WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE THE KITCHEN SO THE OTHER ONE COULD GO IN. SAME WITH THE BATHROOM & TOILETTE AREA. ALSO THE KITCHEN DISHES, CUPS, ETC WERE PRETTY SCARCE. DID NOT HAVE 4 CUPS FOR OUR COFFEE/TEA/ETC. IT ALSO MADE IT DIFFICULT A COUPLE OF TIMES BECAUSE YOU COULD NOT CALL IN OR OUT ON THEIR LAND LINE TO A CELL PHONE NO. I WOULD PREFER NOT TO GIVE OUT MY INTERNET ADDRESS, BUT I WOULD BE HAPPY TO TALK TO SOMEONE IF THEY WANTED TO CALL ME.

Comments:To answer the question about using the apartment again - the stairs were a lot to deal with, especially after a long day of walking around the city. Then again, the fact that we are spoiled here in the US with elevators, probably blurs my response. The bathroom did not have a working electrical outlet. I had to plug in the hairdryer, etc., in to an outlet that was in the bedroom. It wasn't a big deal though.

Comments:Overall we really enjoyed apartment. Its a great apartment in a nice location. A few things would improve it: 1. In the kitchen, the square glass holder for the fume hood looks nice, but is a horrible design given the location of the kitchen faucet. It's impossible to reach to turn on the kitchen faucet without banging your head into that pointed, sharp edge of the glass, unless you duck your head way down. This is the one thing in the apartment I would definitely redesign. Its a hazard. 2. The doors to the bathrooms (shower and toilet) are very nice quality but are not installed correctly. They don't latch when closed unless you push with a huge amount of pressure (.e.g. lean against them pushing with both hands) due to the weather stripping. The door between bedroom and living room is the same type of door and weather stripping, and latches with a normal amount of force. If you close the doors very lightly and measure how far the doors stick out from the door frame, and compare it to the bedroom door, you'll see why they don't latch. (They can be locked with the deadbolt when they are sticking out and not latched, but this isn't how they were designed to be used). 3. The outlet in the shower room had no power. All the breakers were on. Perhaps there's a tripped GFI somewhere, but we couldn't find it. Not a big deal. 4. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights over the dining room table. The light switch by the table turned on the lights in the breaker closet, but not over the table. 5. The frame for the heater mount in the living room was not flush against the wall (compare it with the one in the bedroom). It looked like the top 2 screws were loose - they were like this when we arrived. Given its location, directly in the path of the exit from the bathroom - you have to take a step out, and then step left to avoid the heater, its a safe bet that sometime in the past someone walked into it when leaving the bathroom.

Comments:While the apt. is very pretty and modern it is lacking comfort. No bed lamps in bedroom and the only lamp in the living area was not working. The bathroom lacked any type of storage in shower so we had to put our stuff on the sink and constantly open the shower door. The glass fan in the kitchen is just plain dangerous! We banged our head many times because the lip hung over the sink. Someone could really hurt themselves! There was not enough wine glasses-one and a real lack of basic cooking utensils--no measures or spatulas etc. The heat was turned off when we arrived with no instructions on how to turn it on. This is the second apt we have rented in France--the first was with Haven in Paris which uses a greeter. It was nice after a long flight to just be able to unlock the door and relax! I think the owners manual could use better directions on how to operate the heat and TV. There are two remotes you have to use! Also the washer is lacking complete directions--looks like you are missing a couple of pages.

Comments:As for too much noise inside the building -- just fyi, the tenant above tended to be very active in the wee hours of the morning -- midnight till 2:00a.m. many nights, including some thumping disco one night. It didn't bother us, because we had jet lag and were awake anyway, but another client down the line might complain, so I'm just mentioning it. (Maybe the apartment above is a vacation rental too, in which case that person is long gone anyway?) ALSO, it would be lovely if somehow the wifi could accommodate 2 people at once. I understand it's been limited to one person at a time for security purposes, but that meant that my husband and I couldn't work at the same time. If we can't work at the same time, it takes longer for us to be able to finish work and get out and enjoy Paris! (Often one of us had to go out and find a cafe with wifi so that we could both get work accomplished, which defeats the benefit of having internet available in the apartment.) Just a thought. We very much appreciate the great apartment and the great service. You folks are merveilleux!
