Comments:This was our first apartment rental in Paris and my wife and I were pleased with our stay. The biggest advantage for us was the location and the convenience of having a washer/dryer. The location allowed us to walk to many locations and the washer/dryer allowed us to pack extremely light. Both were invaluable conveniences. The apartment was quiet, acceptably clean and reasonably priced. In the end, the neighborhood wasn't for us. But I imagine this would be an ideal location for a young couple interested in the nightlife of Paris. Vacation in Paris was a pleasure to work with, and while I wouldn't likely stay in this particular apartment again, I will be renting from your organization in the future.

Comments:This was the most fabulous location I could imagine. So much - Notre Dame, L ouvre, d'Orsay, Pantheon, Invalides- was in easy walking distance. Being right in Latin Quarter/St Germaine area provided plenty of choices for eating/drinking,, yet the street the apt was on was quiet as could be. Apt was exactly as advertised and dealing with VIP was great-professional, friendly, and efficient. A couple of suggestions - linens could use attention. For example, no pillowcase for one pillow, duvet cover dingy/not fresh. Also, we had to buy soap - the one incredibly small bar of soap was insufficient for 2 people, who needed soap for both the shower and sink. Will definitely use VIP again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Comments:We had a delightful stay in this property, but in retrospect would have reserved something slightly larger. While it did sleep 4 of us, we were in extremely tight quarters. The property itself was PERFECTLY located, well appointed, and a lovely taste of a "real" Paris apartment experience. We couldn't have asked for a better experience with your company - your communication is simply top notch.

Comments:Fabulous location. Very quiet. We are stairclimbers, but for those who can't or don't want to, the elevator wasn't working in mid-April. It is challenging to carry luggage up those stairs. We had a wonderful experience at this apartment and in Paris. It was perfect to go back to the quiet, peaceful apartment after the busy-ness of experiencing the sites of Paris.

Comments:It was quiet since the apt was on a side street. However, there are 72 stairs which makes for a steep climb. The door is tricky to unlock at first, but after practice we had no problem. The trick is to pull the door towards you right around the time you turn the key in the lock for the second turn, then push the door in right away after you feel the door move towards you. I am not sure if I would book that same property again because we like trying out different places, but I would recommend it to a friend. The kitchenette is nice. We used the fridge for breakfast items, but we never did any cooking. I would recommend Vacation in Paris to my friends as I found it to be a reliable company. I found the St Michel charmer to be true to the description. The location was great, so close to the metro & RER station. I would recommend Vacation In Paris to my friends as I found the company to be easy to work with. thank you!

Comments:The location of this apartment is the best! You can easily get around by metro, walking or bus just outside the apartment. The only problem we had was people smoking in the inner courtyard. The smoke filtered up and into the apartment. But overall it was a great spot. Even the stairs after the 8th night were easy to climb! Another happy time renting from your agency. Thank you for everything. Will rent again next year!

Comments:We enjoyed the location of the apartment and the value. We most likely would not stay here again mainly because of the stairs. It was difficult to get our luggage up and down it. However I would recommend this apartment to others with that reservation. The apartment was very easily to locate for us as it was our first trip to Paris. We found it difficult to operate the washer/dryer as well as the TV. It would be better if the curtains completely covered the windows as we sometimes felt uncomfortable as the windows were basically wide open. We also appreciated that we are able to call home to Canada for free. After weeks of traveling throughout Europe, it was nice to not have to struggle to call home.

We were warned about the washer being loud but really didn't comprehend just how Loud and how long the cycle could be. We couldn't close the windows which might have helped with noise from outside. Comments:overall, it is a fairly good place but was still too expensive. reasons: very small, many steps, the sofa bed very uncomfortable. the upside is the quiet and location. we never did find a market with groceries altho we walked forever looking. you may want to include that in the info. it is a good size for one person. Paris is beautiful but far overpriced as far as accommodation is concerned. there must be a better solution for the key situation. one shouldn't have to be stressed about it after leaving! thank-you for the good instructions.

Comments:Sink in bathroom drains a bit slowly. Did not understand exactly how the electric space heaters work. Perhaps there were instructions in the blue book. We replaced the gasket in the Bialetti Moka coffee maker with a new silicone one. We are big users of these type coffee makers and I recalled that the existing rubber gasket should be replaced (from our June 2011 visit). I had a spare one and brought it along. It should last forever as it is silicone, more heat resistant than rubber, and won't become brittle and crack. Great visit as always. This location is fantastic. 50 meters down the street and you have a view of ND in one direction and the Pont Neuf in the other. Also, there is a France Tourisme office on the corner of Seguier and the Quai where we caught the bus for Mont St. Michel. Will certainly look to VIP the next time we go to Paris (or perhaps London as you have apts in Chelsea). I have recommend VIP and this apartment to others without qualification in the past and will continue to do so.

Comments:I really liked the place, found it very conveniently located and wonderfully quiet. The owner was very helpful when I was unable to get in. Here are a few suggestions for improvements. 1. In the instructions for using the keys to enter, say "turn counter clockwise" as opposed to right or left. I thought I was turning right to left, but ended up turning clockwise, so couldn't get in. 2. ID 180 is well equiped with wireless internet. The instructions (see below) to bring an ethernet cable were unnecessary. (And there was nowhere to plug in a cable anyways!) 3. The bathroom has a bit of a silverfish problem. I woke up in the night, went to the bathroom and switched on the light to see 6 or 7 bugs scurrying away. Ug. This happened several times. 4. It would be nice to have a coffee table or some other place to put dishes when eating in. The little side tables are ill suited to this. 5. The two fry pans in the kitchen are old, scratched and should be replaced. The small one in particular is useless, since it is so warped it won't sit properly on the burner. 6. It would be nice to have some instructions for the heaters. I read French, and tried various ways but couldn't figure out how to work them.

We understand that the idea is that you need to shop for yourself with the kitchen and all, but things get crazy when you're on vacation. Also, the first night we arrived, there was a very loud party in the building, which we found ironic given all of the hairy warnings about making too much noise. That said, you can't control the neighbors and having to buy TP was almost nothing. Everything was generally fantastic. We really liked the apartment, and will definitely look you guys up again for our next trip! Thanks!!!

Comments:There was a loud whine in the bathroom that was quite annoying. The owner was aware of it and tried to stuff paper in the vent to quiet it, but that didn't work. I assume that he fixed the problem after I left. The towel set was very skimpy. The 'kitchen' is tinier even than most French apts. It's really only good for making coffee and storing things in the fridge. However, I wasn't there to do a lot of eating in. Although I enjoyed the apt. very much, and the location was very central (I especially liked the proximity of the RER B to CDG), I found the apt. to be slightly overpriced. I've stayed in many different apts. in Paris, mostly in the Marais and the Left Bank neighborhoods of the 5th, 6th and 7th arrondissements, and this one was not as nice as the others, even though the pricing on all was similar. That said, I'd probably stay there again if that was the only option in that price range. I think that if I had planned ahead a bit more, there would have been better options available.

Comments:Shower stall had mold in it. coffee pot was useless and should be replaced. Not enough hot water to take two showers back to back. Bathroom exhaust fan squealed most of the time. Apt. Manager was aware of the problem, but said he couldn't get it fixed because of rentals. The studio is good value in a very historic Paris neighborhood. Very close to many of the Paris sights.

Comments:A wonderful apartment in a fascinating area of Paris and close to everything. However, anyone renting it does need to know that there are 73 steps up to the apartment and no elevator. Suitcases are not to be dragged over the heritage floors or the stairs. We would definitely rent this location again. Lighting in the living room area was weak - one bulb burned out. We only reported it when we left as we were rarely there. There were complaints from other tenants regarding the laundry system; however, it one read the instruction booklet carefully, it operated fine. European washer/dryer systems are not as efficient as ours.

Comments:Fabulous location and a wonderful apartment, safe, quiet and peaceful. If any complaints it would be that the bathroom sink and shower drains need to be cleaned out and the towels were skimpy. It would also be nice to have washcloths. But those are nitpicky compared to the overall pleasance of the apartment and our experience.

Comments:It would be great if: there were more than 2 rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom; paper towels, sink dish soap and a fresh sponge were provided; the bathroom trash container had its inner liner (or bucket); the kind of soap required for the washing machine were on hand (hard for non-French speakers to figure out the labels to be sure we're buying the right one); the directions for the washing machine were clear and straight forward and did not include how to move, install or otherwise do maintenance on the machine. These things are pretty small and inexpensive but would make things much easier. As it is, we really have no complaints. There was a big party that lasted till 3:15 AM one Friday but as far as we could figure it was in another building. The rest of the time it was really quiet. This was a great place to stay and we would definitely rent it again. And one more thing: I love the book in which everyone writes notes. It's a lovely chain letter with advice flowing from one person to another. And I liked the little gifts that were left, food in the fridge or extra little soaps in the bathroom. We left a few things too and hope that they'll be enjoyed by the next people -- hope they like white wine!!! I hope this passing forward ritual that's been developed will be allowed to continue. It's a very nice personal touch from people we don't know but who end up being like generous pen pals. I admit I was really nervous about this arrangement -- this was our first time renting an apartment -- but it worked out so well that I'm completely won over and would encourage anyone to try it. It's the only way to visit Paris and this place was smack in the center of everything we wanted to do. I miss the tile floor under my feet! Thank you for everything!

Comments:Everything was exactly as described and promised. This is an excellent location and it was quiet despite being close to a lively area. In fact, we slept with the windows open most nights. We had mixed success using the telephone for a couple of calls to the states. I don't know if the service is limited or I was dialing incorrectly, but a bit more guidance would be helpful. The apartment gave us a feel for Parisian living (older building on a quaint street) but without a lack of the modern conveniences we would expect from a hotel. We planned our Paris vacation carefully - restaurants, attractions, etc. This property fit perfectly with those plans and ensured a memorable vacation for the four of us. Next time we vacation in Paris, it is certain we will call VIP and highly likely that we will be interested in staying at #180 again. Found you through the internet but you also have lots of fans on the TripAdvisor.com site. Everything was straightforward and having the keys in advance was incredibly convenient.

Comments:We had an excellent experience. The location is very convenient, yet the apartment is VERY quiet. The space is very well used, and the furnishings are cozy if not luxurious. A couple of the dishes (a plate and mug) were chipped before we arrived, and we did not notice before meeting our genial host (Bruno de LaMaze), so we hope we won't be charged. The place was very nice and clean, except for some mold in the bathroom in and around the shower. The shower is a bit cramped and would be uncomfortable for a very large person. A truly nice experience, for which we are very grateful. We sent the key back yesterday (6/2), having insured it for $150 as requested. You should be receiving it on Monday, 6/6.

Comments:Location was perfect--short walk to Notre Dame, Batobus (water taxi), the Cluny, St. Sulpice, Sainte Chapelle, Luxemborg Gardens, Metro, and numerous cafes, bistros, and shopping, yet our little street was quiet. Studio apartment offered plenty of room for two. We were so tired from our "red-eye" flight that we were in the apartment early, but the cleaning lady finished, and showed us how to use the door key. Thanks to her very much! I've been recommending your business to others on the travel forums. Great customer service from start to finish. We had planned to stay in a hotel until we found out about your company. We loved having our own flat, with kitchen, and laundry. We only took a carry-on bag on our flight, because I could do a load of laundry while staying there. (My husband was amazed about my lack of usual luggage!) I would highly recommend our flat, and your company again. Thank you so much!

Comments:The information we received about the apartment and the interaction with your staff was excellent. I was amazed how easy everything was, with no problems. It was a really smooth experience which was greatly appreciated. Having the keys in advance was great. A little less convoluted explanation of the locks and washing machine would be better. Generally, the apartment exceeded our expectations and was one of the best vacation experiences we ever had. Months later we are still raving about what are terrific time we had and how great it was to have an apartment, rather than a hotel room. We would definitely use your company again and have already recommended you to others. The studio could not have been more charming and the layout made the best use of the limited space. The light and air from the large windows was wonderful. The neighborhood was hopping, yet the street the apartment was on was quiet and quaint. Nearby restaurants and cafes were excellent. It was easy walking to almost all our destinations. It felt like we lived in Paris and it was wonderful coming back to the apartment in the afternoon for a wine, cheese, bread, fruit, etc break, and then going out again. It was a surprise vacation for my wife's 50th birthday and everything worked out wonderfully -- Paris, the apartment, the weather, the transportation and all the attractions, including two out of the ordinary ones: the really interesting tour of the Paris sewers and the exhibit of the Eichmann trial at the Shoah Memorial. The only issue was the cleanliness of the apartment and the amount of towels, linens, etc. Given our 12 day stay there certainly should have been at least a few more towels, and dish towels and there was no change of linens at all. Some more towels and linens would have been appreciated and would have eliminated the hassle of using the washing machine. Also the extra comforter which we used on the coach was not clean when we got there and we noticed that as we were leaving, the cleaning person just put the comforter back into the closet without first having it cleaned. While the overall apartment was neat or orderly, it good have used a more thorough cleaning before we got there. Again, for a 12 day stay there could have been greater attention to details. But we certainly have no major complaints and loved the entire experience.

Comments:We could open the door to the apt as it was faulty. After telephoning you in the USA we re tried using your instructions but it still didn't open. Your company contacted the owner who then arroved and forced the door open. The lock was poorly aligned so access was impossible without force. It was 2 hours from the time we arrived to the moment we entered the apt, late at night in winter. I would suggest for this apt the owner/manager meets the client. I trust the lock has since been changed. Overall the service was very good by your company. I have recommended you and this apt to friends but have suggested they request to be met on site with the key. I would only book an apt with you again if this was possible so as not to repeat the trouble we had gaining access.

We have rented in Paris many times before, but we will be back in to your studio. We l You could emphasize the ideal location for travelers arriving at any Paris airport. The RER train station St. Michele is actually WALKING DISTANCE from the place. Trip to CDG is only 30min? Impossible any time of a day in Taxi!!

We so enjoyed having a cozy spot to come home to after exploring our favorite city. We would have our evening cafe right there at home, feeling so Parisien! We would definitely recommend your organization and the St Michel Charmer to anyone planning on visiting Paris.

Comments:Apartment was on the third floor (as we count them in the US) with 22 steps between floors. Stairs are wood and can make a lot of noise if you are not carefull. We are in pretty good shape so the stairs were not a problem. I would not recommend the apartment for those who have difficulty carrying luggage up several flights of stairs with bumping them on the stairs. The building is very secure with two locked outer doors that lead to an inner courtyard. The courtyard/atrium is about 40 feet wide and many apartments have windows toward this same inner space. # 180 does not have AC so you must be pretty quiet in the apartment when the windows are open. Therefore, I would not recommend the apartment to families with children or those who would prefer more privacy in the summer months. We found the location to be outstanding. The apartment is on a very quiet street yet is only 50 meters from all the nightlife that Paris can offer. The RER and metro are only about 100 meters away. We walked to most attractions. Many, many restaurants are within 100 meters of the apartment including pizza, Subway, crepes and gyros for fast food. A large Carefour supermarket is located about 200 meters away on Rue de Buci. The prices and selection in the grocery were very good and similar to the US. We enjoyed our stay very much and would return. Our only caveat is that there are lots of stairs and you must remain quiet in the apartment. The price is very good and the location cannot be beat. The outer shutters for the window in the bedroom area do not stay latched. With the sheer drapes this causes a lack to privacy in the bedroom area. We tied the shutter together with some string while we were there. The refrigerator did not seem to be very cold.

Comments:We really enjoyed the St Michel Charmer. It went well beyond our need for a home base for our stay in Paris. Not only was the location perfect for sightseeing and near many great restaurant choices, but it was an attractive apartment in a charming old building. We used the kitchen regularly for breakfast and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. One suggestion: We assumed, based on the way the instructions were written, that the door would have the owner's name on or near it and we were a little confused when it didn't. We went up and down the stairs a few times before we got up the courage to try the door we thought was right. It was just a minor hiccup, but perhaps the instructions could be rewritten a little.

Comments:The apartment was quiet, relaxing, clean, cute, safe, well furnished, well lighted, and in a great central location. My self and two older children felt at home. Could have used an extra pillow or two (w/ pillow cases) and an extra bath towel per person. The bathroom faucet was dislocated from the basin (loose but functional) and the front door had two locks that were very difficult to engage simultaneously, we could only use one at a time. Overall our stay was a positive experience and worth the price paid. Appreciated dealing with an American based rental company and having the set of keys to take along with us. Thanks!!!

Comments:The only reason we would hesitate to recommend this studio is because of the door locking mechanism. It's archaic and really needs to be made more user friendly. The dead bolt is fine but the gatekeeper key lock is just an excercise in frustration. Location, location, location. It's perfect for getting around. The instructions for the washing machine needs simplification. Directions for use in guest book are much better than instructions received from company. Generally we were very pleased but the door locks really need to be attended to, otherwise it was great.
