Though being placed in the heart of the Latin Quarter only a few meters from the Seine river and the Notre-Dame Cathedral, this 75m2 apartment is very quiet thanks to its exposure on a calm courtyard. However it is also very bright as it is south oriented. The intellectual core of Paris, the Quarter Latin, abounds of historical points of interest such as the “Sainte Chapelle”, in the Law Courts, build under Saint Louis from 1241 to 1248, “Cluny’s” Thermae (from the 3rd century) Hotel (from the 15th century) and Museum (from the19th century), among others. In addition the Seine River, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Boulevard Saint Germain are in a very short walking distance and, a block and a half away, is the Sorbonne University. A large variety of nice shops, celebrated restaurants and cafes, and cinemas, as well as basic services such as supermarkets are found all around this neighborhood.
This large duplex apartment is located on the fourth European floor of an 17th century historic walk-up building. The main entrance gate is protected by a security system and there is a concierge as well in the building. The walls are painted white and there are wooden beams on the ceilings and tiled floor almost everywhere.
The entry door opens directly onto the 45m2 living and dining room. On the mezzanine is the first 7m2 loft-bedroom. The kitchen is off of the dining room and separate. The master bedroom (15m2) is off the dining room, followed by the bathroom and toilet (one must walk through the bedroom to access the bathroom). See FLOOR PLAN.
The living room and dining room, have plenty of natural light from the three windows looking out over a pretty courtyard and the Parisian rooftops. Both rooms are tastefully furnished with antique original furniture: an old oak bookcase, a small wooden wardrobe closet, a walnut round coffee table, a “prie-dieu” foot stool, paintings and several lamps. The living room is completed by a sofa (140 cm length), a comfortable armchair, carpet, TV, stereo, and telephone. There is a beautiful imported Italian marble dining table with its matching chairs and two antique appliqués on the wall.
The master bedroom also has a window viewing the courtyard and parquet floor; it has queen sized bed and an antique walnut closet.
An oak 19th century spiral staircase leads you to the small bedroom on the mezzanine; two large skylights light up this space. You'll also find a carpeted floor and a Japanese style futon bed with a 190 cm x 140 cm custom made latex mattress- very comfortable, and lamps up here. The ceiling is quite low here and this space is not appropriate for children under the age of 10 or those persons with any physical restrictions.
The kitchen opens onto the large dining room area. It is fully equipped with a microwave and a small oven, four electric burners, a small fridge, a dishwasher, a stainless sink, a washing machine, a coffee maker and toaster as well as all the necessary utensils. The cabinets, the refrigerator, and oven are older but fully functional.
The beautiful marbled bathroom has a tub with a wall-mounted showerhead with a curtain, a washbasin, and a toilet. Do note that the bathtub is a bit older with some light discolorations.
The two nearest metro stations are Saint-Michel: RER B Metro line 4 and Odéon: Metro line 4, both are are less than 100 m.
