One Bedroom in Montmartre

In the romantic Montmartre area, this large one bedroom apartment has a charm all its own, with the added treat of being next to the small grocery store made famous by the well-loved French movie “Amélie.”

One bedroom Heart of Montmartre holiday rental, living room

Located on a quiet picturesque street in a very lively historic neighborhood, the apartment is the perfect base for your Paris vacation. With its cobbled streets and secret alleyways, Montmartre is a truly inspiring place, combining a rich sense of history with real contemporary vitality. Picasso, Van Gogh, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec – they all lived here and you can see why. Delicious and affordable bistros, artisan bakeries, clothing and antique shops – all lie just outside the front door, leaving you with a sense of unending discovery.

Montmartre holiday short term rental, view of streetThis Paris vacation rental is two minutes away from the Abbesses metro, with its original Art Nouveau façade; scenic place Emile Goudeau, where it’s great to get a coffee and take in the scenery; and the famous Montmartre Windmills (including the world’s most famous windmill – The Moulin Rouge). Five minutes up the hill is the beautiful Sacré Coeur Cathedral and the world famous artist’s square, Place du Tertre – close enough for easy access to the spectacular views, yet just far enough away from the crowds. There are many museums, cabarets, jazz-clubs, cafés, and bars to explore, a clandestine boules court and even Paris’ last functioning vineyard! The restaurants range from delicious-but-affordable to high-end gourmet – and there are many many great ones within a stone’s throw (we will give you a dozen suggestions). To top it off, all over the neighborhood are breathtaking views of the City of Light.

Up one flight of stairs in a quaint mid-19th century building, the Paris holiday flat itself is sleek, light, spacious and charming. With a queen-size bed in the bedroom and a double-size pull-out sleeper sofa in the living room, there’s easily enough room for 4 adults. The flat is furnished in a chic modern style with classic French movie posters on the walls, and there is a bookshelf-full of Paris guidebooks as well as an extensive library of great DVDs in case of a rainy day. There’s even a collection of CDs featuring timeless French music – pop, jazz and, of course, Edith Piaf. Plus easy-to-use Wi-Fi and free calls to the States and the U.K.

One of the great features is the extra large kitchen, with its distinctive red floor, high counter top with four bar stools, full oven, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, and so on. You can happily eat breakfast and lunch here, or cook an evening meal if you are so inclined (There are incredible gourmet food shops moments away on rue des Abbesses and rue Lepic). The bathroom has a WC, sink, and a shower with plenty of hot water. There are several windows both on the street side and the courtyard side, giving cross-ventilation to keep the flat cool in summer (the unobtrusive heaters make it toasty in winter.) The place has a natural serenity that makes it a sanctuary after a hard day’s sight-seeing.

And if you want to buy a pint of milk...just go three doors down to Amelie’s grocery store, possibly the best corner shop in all of France!

The apartment was fantastic - both my boyfriend and myself were delighted with it, and we felt extremely comfortable all throughout our four night stay. It was a lovely size with a separate kitchen, living room and bedroom. The shower was powerful & always had plenty of hot water, and the flat was clean, spacious and really quite adorable!

It was in a lovely area of Montmartre - it had a very local/village feel to it. The grocery from Amelie was a couple of doors up, and the man who was always there to serve us was fantastic - very friendly & smiley! Absesses metro station is a two minute walk from the apartment which made getting round Paris extremely easy. The metro was intuitive and very easy to understand. We felt like we could be in the centre of Paris within 20minutes and had no problems returning late at night. We also found that taxis were cheap should we miss the last metro home - 10eur to take us from the latin quarter back to our apartment in Montmartre!

Just one thing to note - in previous reviews of the apt. I had read that it was a steep walk up a hill to the apartment from the metro station - I really did not find this to be the case AT ALL, I thought it was more a gentle incline. My boyfriend & myself do come from hilly Edinburgh though, so I suppose this could explain the different experiences. I would say though, just don't be put off by the 'hills' in Montmartre because they really aren't that bad!

All the restaurants, bars, boulangeries, fromageries, patisseries etc round about the apartment (mainly on rue absesses) were fantastic and we became repeat customers. All in all, I could not say a bad word about this apartment - it simply made our first trip to Paris unforgettable and we are really looking forward to coming back and staying here again!!

Working with VIP has been brilliant from start to finish - a completely hassle free experience, and I will be recommending you to friends & using you again in future.
Thank you,

Hi Richard,
I wish to forward my appreciation and thanks for your service which I was completely stratified with. Both you and your staff were very helpful and responded quickly to my requests. I will recommend you to all my colleagues and will definitely use you again when going to Paris.

Both my wife and myself found the apartment to completely satisfy our needs 100%. The area
was homely and village-like making our stay very satisfying. So much in fact that my wife would even live there.

Location is tops. Close to Metro. Give apartment 5/5 in terms of location, amenities and character. One small note to feedback to owner would be some simple instructions in English on how to operate the dishwasher and washing machine.

Thanking you again for your excellent service
Regards
