This enchanting Paris apartment is located near the Louvre Museum off rue du Louvre and rue Etienne Marcel.


Historic Paris Rental Apartment Living Area

You are in the Paris 2nd Arrondissement just a block from the border with the 1st. This is the elegant Right Bank. Place Des Victoires with all the designer shops is only one and a half blocks away.

We have been told that this unique historical vacation apartment was part of the home of the Countess Dubarry who was the mistress of King Louis XV. She was dragged from this building during the revolution (when she was in her 70's) and taken to the Guillotine for having had a relationship with the father of Louis XVI. A copy of a painting of the Countess now hangs in the apartment.

This spacious holiday flat consists of a large room that serves as a living room and bedroom with a double size bed. A smaller room has a trundle bed that makes two twin beds. A small galley type kitchen is equipped with an oven/stove, refrigerator and all the utensils needed for light cooking. The bathroom is small, but has a shower, sink and WC. The two rooms can each sleep two persons in each room. This Paris rental apartment can sleep two couples or parents traveling with children. Each will share the bath which is accessible only through the one room. This apartment has a floor space of 40 m2 (about 430 ft2). The property provides basics amenities and is in need of some TLC but considering the location, the size, and the price we feel that the apartment a good but for the cost conscious traveler.

The Paris historic apartment is located one floor above the ground. If you like to eat early we suggest you eat in the apartment with pre cooked delicious food from the famous Rue Montorgueil and its three blocks of food shops.

The apartment's location was perfect! We were able to walk to the Louvre in less than 15 minutes and Montorgueil market was just around the corner. We'd recommend Le Centre Ville at 57 Rue Montorgueil for cafe au lait and amazing flatbreads to anyone else staying in the apartment. We were impressed with the security of the apartment. The kitchen was small but complete. We were able to make ratatouille from fresh ingredients and enjoy it in our own space. So much better than eating in a restaurant! You've sold my parents on vacation rentals as a way to travel! You might mention the green sculpture thing at the end of the road in your information packet about the apartment. It is a great landmark for finding the apartment building. We'd definitely come back and recommend the apartment to friends and family going to Paris. Thanks for a great vacation!

The apartment location was fabulous- quick walk to the Louvre, L'Opera and a number of metro stops; even Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower are walkable- with kids! It's technically in 2nd Ar but the 1st is about 30 yards away. The pedestrian only street was quiet for the most part- the bar (written up in more than a few guidebooks- excellent food) at the end of the block gets a bit rowdy and stays rowdy pretty late on the weekend (as it was warm enough for them to be outdoors). The apartment itself is equipped in what we referred to as a "rustic Cape rental" with older tableware and some charming older furnishings. But seriously, YOU ARE IN PARIS. If you wanted to stay in the room, you went to the wrong place. Great space for the money. Quirky in a way that most non-luxury apartments in any metropolitan area are. Would be a bit tight with more than two adults as the bed in the main room is a double (real cozy). Single with trundle was nicely sized but made getting to the WC a bit tight when it was pulled out.
